Happy 25th, Mother, you fabulous game series, you!(Check out my Vimeo later today for a high-quality version of this animation!)

josuecruzart said: Hey I just found out about you, I love the DKC2 symphony suite! What was the reason for making this, and can I expect anything else DKC related from you? Thanks!

Thank you so much, I’m really glad you like it! Donkey Kong Country 2 was one of the first games I ever played, and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. I wanted to compose a suite of music from a game, and having always loved DKC2 and its music, it seemed like an obvious choice for me.

I’m afraid I don’t have any immediate plans to do anything with DKC music again, but never say never! The next time I arrange game music I think I’d like it to be from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, incidentally.

By the way, as long as I’m answering this I wanted to take a moment to tell you how amazing your art is after checking it out! I’m incredibly flattered someone so talented liked something I did, haha.

Man, I love how Thomas has his sound, and every other Homestuck composer has a sound that if you know them well enough you can tell it’s them just by listening. I hope that doesn’t come across negative, because I think it’s a really cool thing. It’s been awesome working with a group of people where all of us have our own unique vibe, and somehow managing to make cohesive albums together.

Speaking from experience it can be frustrating trying to break away from your sound but I don’t think anyone can escape it fully. I like that though, I like that each composer has a unique voice that will come through their music no matter what. Language of the soul, you know?

The Lyrist (Piano Version)

Made a pretty quick realization of what the arrangement sounds like. I may have changed the 7/4 section somewhat in the arrangement compared to the original.

Sorry to say that at this point, you don’t.

There’s only one alleged update left, and any music that’s going to be featured in it has either already been made or will be made specifically for it.

If you’re really confident about whatever you have to contribute, there is one last album planned. If whatever you had made was exceptional enough, there’s a chance it could go on there. Contact Toby Fox about that, though don’t expect that album to be out anytime soon or that your music will be accepted (sorry to say there’s simply too little slots available for a presumed large amount of people already planning to contribute).

If this anon is looking through notes you can always try and get it on Land of Fans and Music 4, which will be coming out after Volume 10.

I am so, so, so, so proud of us.

!!!

Stop whatever you’re doing and watch this amazing work of art. You won’t regret it.

Holy shit they actually finished it.

Bravo! This must have been such a daunting project, especially considering how long the group was working on it for, and it came out great! There’s lots of bits of animation here that I love, and it was so nice to hear Malcom’s song again after so long. Congrats to everyone who worked on this!

I’d definitely recommend watching it even if you’re not into Homestuck anymore, if only to appreciate the amount of time, work, and people it took to happen just because they were inspired by a Homestuck tune! (further solidifying Homestuck music as the Greatest of All Time)
